the beat&melody had always been playing within, silently //. [6:38 PM]
Yesterday was my first time listening to BGCB’s version of Memories of Friendship. There’re a lot of things to work on people!!!!!!!!
Firstly, get your notes and rhythm right. Secondly, work on the phrasing and loudness. Can’t distinguish your mezzo piano, mezzo forte and forte! Flute section don’t play forte when you’re supposed to play mezzo forte. Phrasing for medley is 4 bars then breathe. Lowerwinds/lowerbrass needs to work on the marcato crotchets. Thirdly, band members need to listen to one another. Many intonation problems on the woodwinds. For Oboe, the middle C is most of the time sharp so must change embouchure. Clarinet must play long tones concert Bflat major 1 octave higher.Work on high C. Flutes must be in tune when playing together. Lastly, add color to your playing. Timbre/tone color. Musicality wise also not there yet.
Will see you guys more often. Every Monday and Saturdays. Hope that you guys will practice hard on your parts. Remember what maestro have said today. Improve by stages not on full scale. Remember to play with your heart and soul. (Sounds like “With Heart and Voice” by David Gillingham! Haha. >.<)
